Abstract
|
|
|
Pure red cell aplasia is characterized by erythropoietic hypoplasia occurring in the
absence of abnormalities in the leukopoietic or thrombocytopoietic systems.
We experienced two patients of pure red cell aplasia who were admitted to our
hospital because of dizziness and pallor.
One patient was a 75 year-old female, and the other was a 55 year-old male.
On bone marrow examinations, both patients had markedly decreased erythroid
precusors which were consistent with pure red cell aplasia. We treated them with
corticosteroids and cyclophosphamides, and excellent hematologic responses were
observed.
So, we reported two cases of pure red cell aplasia with brief review of literature.
